Litigation & Insolvency
Sarah is an Associate in the Litigation and Insolvency Practice Group specialising in international commercial litigation and insolvency. Prior to joining Appleby she was an Associate in the Litigation and Arbitration Group at DLA Piper in London where she gained experience representing predominantly non-UK based commercial clients and foreign governments in complex commercial disputes before the English Courts and in Arbitration.
Sarah graduated from the London School of Economics in 2000 with an LL.b (hons) and completed the Bar Vocational Course at the College of Law in London in 2001. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2001 and was admitted as a Solicitor in 2005. Sarah was admitted to the New York Bar in 2007.
Representative work:
•Advising a global IT implementation and outsourcing company in English High Court litigation with an international media and broadcasting corporation involving allegations of fraud, misrepresentation and breach of contract.
•Advising the Government of an EU Member State in Judicial Review proceedings before the High Court in London concerning decisions of the Secretary of State for Transport affecting air travel to, from and over the Member State’s territory and related issues concerning the recognition of States in international law.
•Advising the representative of a multinational oil pipeline consortium in an UNCITRAL arbitration relating to an oil transportation agreement.
•Advising a US based global provider of clinical and diagnostic laboratory equipment in an ad hoc arbitration arising out of a dispute with an EU based distributor.
•Advising the government of a Caribbean State in relation to an ICSID arbitration arising out of the exploitation of off-shore oil and natural gas exploration rights and a related maritime boundary dispute.
